do the cool shit
Bodyweight Brigade is that studio that develops you into the woman doing the cool shit you’re watching other people nail.
Can’t do anything about the personality but..
aaaanyway…
The concept is simple. You come in with whatever strength and skills you currently have, and we develop them until you can do the harder things.
This requires coaching, progression and stimulus strategy (ooh fancy..) instead of leaving you in the corner doing your own thing
Until. You. Die.
get good at it
no seriously…
you need actual strategy for your training.
-
Can’t planche but hey at least you’ve learned to be resilient.
-
You can deadlift 120kg for reps. Fantastic. Your press handstand has reviewed this information and declined to comment.
-
It’s part of you now. You’ve had it for so long that removing it feels strangely emotional.
Training isn’t supposed to be just be a “workout”, Sheila. It’s supposed to lead somewhere.
Especially when you’re so skill driven. So please say your goodbyes.
-
You have. That’s actually how we got into this mess, Sheila. Keep up.
The plan.
step 01
get stronger.
Most of the cool skills you want to do requires a very particular kind of strength.
Pulling strength. Pushing strength. Strength upside down. Strength at stupid angles. Strength at the very end of ranges where your body would strongly prefer you stopped asking questions.
So we figure out what kind of strong your thing requires.
Then we make you that kind of strong.
step 02
do the cool shit.
This is why you’re here.
Pull ups. Muscle ups. Handstand push ups. planches. Presses. Levers. Dragon squats. Splits.
Things that make absolutely no meaningful contribution to society but feels extremely liberating to do.
We support this use of your time.
10/10 Highly recommend.
step 03
keep getting better.
You did the thing. Congratulations!
But now there is this other thing.
So we keep developing your strength, skills and training until the thing that currently looks ridiculous becomes the thing you can do.
Then we find you something more ridiculous.
This is how we get you.
stupid questions.
There are no stupid questions. but here are some anyway.
-
No. That would be a serious flaw in our business model.
You come with whatever strength you currently have. We figure out what you can do, what you can't do yet, and start developing the right kind of strength from there.
You do not need to train somewhere else first so you're strong enough to come here.
That is literally our job.
-
Excellent. We own some pull up bars specifically for this reason.
You don't need to be able to do the skill before we teach you the skill.
Otherwise this would just be a very expensive room for people who already know how to do things.
-
No.
We have been waiting for you.
If you've already built strength and skills, we don't need to pretend you haven't. But there is always the next thing.
one arm chin up? Pike press? muscle up forward roll? 90 degree push up?
Lovely. Bring us your problems.
-
Yes. At 40 women traditionally expire and are returned to the manufacturer.
No.
We coach adult women. Many of them came to us after years of other training and decided, quite reasonably, that they'd like their bodies to do more interesting things.
Your age matters to HOW we train you.
It does not automatically decide what you're capable of.
-
Twice a week is a good place to start.
If you want to progress faster or you're working towards more advanced skills, you'll probably train more.
Unfortunately, we have not yet discovered a way to make you substantially better at something without actually doing it.
The research continues.
-
Yes.
Book the one week trial.
Come in. Train. Meet us.
Then decide whether you'd like to continue making increasingly questionable choices with us.
"This is by far one of the best gyms I have ever been to. I started over 7 years ago and have not looked back."

it gets worse..
We like meddling in your training. And there are three levels of meddling.
start here
The Lab
small group training
Everyone starts here.
We coach you, watch how you train and figure out what actually makes you better.
Some people stay here. Some WANT more meddling. Some NEED more meddling.
We’ll let you know.
go deeper
The Program
INDIVIDUAL PROGRAMMING
You need more meddling.
So now we take over your whole program.
We plan it, track it, change it and generally interfere with anything standing between you and the thing you’re trying to do.
We have notes.
send help
The Intensive
1:1 coaching
You’ve tried being patient.
Didn’t work so now give it to us.
You get 1-on-1 coaching while we poke, prod and generally interfere with the one thing that refuses to fucking cooperate.
We have cleared our schedule. This could get ugly.
THE culprit
who did this
HI, I’M SHIMI. and THIS IS all MY FAULT.
I’ve been coaching women’s bodyweight strength for over 15 years. I started Bodyweight Brigade because I wanted women to get really fucking calisthenics strong and do cool shit.
Somewhere along the way, I became mildly obsessed with why one woman flies through a progression while another gets stuck doing the same shit for years.
So I started paying attention to what this woman needs to keep getting better. Where she gets stuck. What she responds to and what she doesn’t. And when doing more of the same thing is clearly a terrible idea.
That thinking eventually became Axis Theory™, the methodology behind how we train at BWB.
You don’t need to understand any of it, though. That’s my problem.
You just get to do the cool shit.
we have evidence
receipts
We could tell you how good we are at this, but that would be extremely convenient coming from us.
So here are some women getting stronger, doing the thing, getting better at the thing, and occasionally sending us messages in ALL CAPS about the thing.
We keep screenshots. Totally normal behaviour.
note for tam i want screenshots of before and after videos from instagram and whatsapp screenshots (uploaded it in our folder in g-drive. i need this page to look a little chaotic like evidence pinned to a wall
